Thank you for visiting the Team Placid Planet Web site. (Care to take a guess at our Web master’s favorite color?)  We come from all walks of life, and our orbit revolves around common interests (obsessions for some) in cycling and triathlons. We ride and train primarily in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks and can’t complain about the scenery. Our team’s galaxy consists of the following guiding principles:

  • be safe
  • promote good sportsmanship and fair play
  • race like there’s no tomorrow
  • raise awareness/elicit enthusiasm
  • train smart/maximize athletic potential
  • serve as ambassadors for visitors to the region

Team Phot

Ranging from junior girls and boys to masters women and men, Team Placid Planet members are also committed to practicing social responsibility, minimizing our environmental impact, and fostering positive relations with the communities where we train and compete. Our Youth Program, inspiring the next generation of Lance Armstrongs and Heather Fuhrs, is in its second year.

Our inaugural Wilmington-Whiteface Road Race, scheduled for Saturday, June 21, dovetails perfectly with the world-class triathlon/multisport competitions for which the region is known. Read about it in the news...Saratogian, Adirondack Sports & Fitness, Adirondack Daily Enterprise

As orange and cheery as it is, our Web site is still under construction, so we appreciate your patience as we work to align the planets. We hope you will check in periodically to see what’s new. Think of it as interval training for your mind.

Scott WoodwardIn the meantime we encourage you to visit our title sponsor, Placid Planet Bicycles, and we also acknowledge and recommend our other local sponsors: Niles, Piller, and Bracy, LLC; Flowering Meadow Nursery; Lake Placid Health and Fitness Center; Scheefer’s Adirondack Builders; Graymont Materials, Inc. and Balanced Bodywork and Massage — and our bicycle sponsor, Cannondale Bicycles. Please feel free to join us for one of our training events or contact us and we will happily address your questions.

I just wanted everyone to put on their calendars the club championship race on Aug. 9th at 10:00.  You should have gotten some info. via an e-mail about a week ago.  If you didn't, give me a call or e-mail me.  There will be some give-a-ways and some cash to win.  The champions will be receiving a club champion patch for their jersey and a club champion mug for their desk or coffee break.

NYS RR Championships  Tim Akers | 7/14/2008 at 7:24 PM

Hey everyone!  I know this is a crazy weekend between the Ironman, some headed to NH to race, preparing for ESG, and just life in general.  But I have not heard any talk about the NY State RR championships down in Buffalo.  If anyone is interested it is pre-reg only and the deadline is this friday.

Timex just came on as a sponsor.  Champions of each Cat will win a Timex Ironman Solar Shock watches.  Plus the top 3 in each event will be entered to win a drawing for a Timex Bodylink heart rate monitor.  Total purse also equals about $3500.  This is in addition to the NYS Champion Medals.

I ride with Buffalo Bicycling Club (The host) when I visit family in Buffalo.  Great group of guys.  Their President Duane Wisniewski shot me an email about it.  If you are free check it out!
