Local Thursday night ride available, but not sponsored by Team Placid Planet...Thursday Night Worlds In true Belgian spirit, this season's first World Championship will be held rain or shine (barring all out Thunderstorms), on the traditional River Road course. We'll roll out Thursday, April 28th promptly at 6pm from the Stewarts/HPC public lot <http://maps.google.com/maps?q=44.281121,-73.981652&num=1&sll=44.20424...> and cruise en masse via Rt. 86, and down River Road towards the Red Barn. Pre-race banter, trash talk, and revelry will abound. At the Red Barn, we'll reconvene, reiterate rules, yellow line procedures and behavioral guidelines, and then commence with our Green Jersey sprint lap. Post sprint, we'll once again reconvene at the Red Barn, and hopefully have time for a second Maillot Jaune lap. This season, we're excited to announce that a *fun group ride* will also meet and leave from the same location <http://maps.google.com/maps?q=44.281121,-73.981652&num=1&sll=44.20424...>. Led by a group volunteer, this is the perfect group for those wishing to enjoy a fun, relaxed early season cruise with friends. It's also a great way to meet plenty of new riders from Pro-Tour teams across the Tri-Lakes region. The group ride will be roughly 20 miles, or 1.5 River Road loops. *The fine print*: *"Thursday Night Worlds" is a spirited group race/ride which has been leaving the Stewarts/HPC parking lot since the beginning of time. It is, however, not an officially organized group ride, nor is it sanctioned or endorsed by any group, business, or individual.
As such, this event is to be undertaken completely undertaken at your own risk. While we (the group or participants) reconvene often (3x per night) at the Red Barn to wait for folks, there is no ride support or sag wagon present. Bring spare tubes, tire levers, and an inflationary device, and know how to use them. If you're not familiar with the River Road Loop, make sure you bring a friend, or find a buddy to ride with you at all times.* |
